“Krasta City” design competition is amongst the most ambitious competitions of 2020 as reviewed in the Architectural magazine Latvijas Architektūra

The competition of architectural ideas is a long-proven method of making dreams come true, ”says architect Juris Poga, President of LAS.
This method was also used in the search for the best solutions of development for the future in Krasta City.

In 2020, 13 applicants submitted their proposals for the future development of the city, of which 5 were awarded.

• First place went to Arrow Architects (Denmark).
• The second place was shared by two applicants “NORDE Arhitekti” and the authors’ association “RUUME arhitekti”, SIA “K Forma”, Ansis Šinke.
• The third place was shared by the authors’ association SIA “a part”, SIA “Ozola & Bula arhitektu birojs” and SIA “OUTOFBOX” with the participation of SIA “LANDSHAPE”, SIA “IE.LA inženieri”, SIA “BICP”.

Although the visions are different, the unifying view that all architects shared – how to combine the urban environment with residents desire to be closer to nature.
